Tignale is rather off the beaten track, which creates an additional challenge for Tignale
Soccorso’s volunteers. It is important to realise that here, more than in other locations,
a thorough knowledge of the local area is just as essential as being a skilled
emergency-response technician and arriving quickly at the scene of the
incident.
Furthermore, while Tignale’s permanent population has remained stable over the past few
years, the number of tourists has increased exponentially and, consequently, the number of
call-outs. We respond to about 120 call-outs per year for 118 medical emergencies, and
provide just as many pre-planned
